LEED v5 AP BD+C
Six full practice exams for the LEED v5 AP Building Design and Construction specialty, written against the July 2026 rating system.
What changed for BD+C candidates
The v5 AP exam is a standalone specialty exam of 100 questions. For the v5 beta, GBCI offers no combined sitting with the Green Associate exam, which was a common route under v4.
Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality together carry 44 of the 85 scored questions. That is where embodied carbon, electrification and the new Occupant Experience credit sit, and where a v4-trained candidate is most exposed.
How these exams are built
- Every number, threshold and point tier comes from the LEED v5 BD+C rating system, July 2026 edition.
- Distractors use real misconceptions: the v4 answer, the adjacent credit, the plausible wrong threshold.
- Demanding by design: scenarios and calculations, not just recall.

Common questions
How many questions are on the LEED v5 AP exam, and how long is it?
Each LEED AP with Specialty exam has 100 multiple-choice questions and you get 2 hours. Some questions are unscored and used to test new items, and you can't tell which, so answer every question.
Can I sit Green Associate and the specialty together?
Not for the v5 beta exams. GBCI is offering the v5 AP exams as standalone specialty exams only, with no combined sitting. Check the candidate handbook for the final exam.
Do v5 questions have more than one correct answer?
No. Every question on the v5 AP exams has exactly one correct answer option.
What score do I need to pass?
A scaled score of 170 or higher.
Do I need the Green Associate first?
Yes, in most cases. When you register you need an active LEED Green Associate credential or an active LEED AP with Specialty credential, and you must be at least 18. Once you pass, the AP credential replaces your Green Associate.
Can I take the exam online?
Yes. You can sit it at a Prometric test centre or online with remote proctoring through Prometric ProProctor.
When do beta candidates get results?
Beta candidates receive a notice of completion rather than an immediate score. Results are expected around December 2026, after which the final v5 exams publish with instant results.
How do I keep the credential?
LEED AP credentials renew every 2 years through continuing education hours.
